Girls' 2017 Coaches

Varsity

Brian Girdlestone

Brian Girdlestone is in his 14th year with the girl’s varsity soccer team and his 6th year as head coach. Brian was named 2016 Stark County Girls Division 1 Coach of the Year, and Federal League Girls Coach of the Year in 2014. He has coached teams into the 2014 and 2016 district finals. Brian also coaches for CAK and has been involved in community soccer as a volunteer coach. Brian started playing soccer at age 4 in Sydney, Australia and was a 4-year varsity player. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in Sydney, and played soccer, tennis and cricket. He graduated college from Walsh University where he received his bachelor’s degree with a double major in Psychology and Finance. He later earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and Master’s in School Counseling, also from Walsh. He is a guidance counselor at Hoover High School . Brian resides in North Canton with his wife Marcie, and their four sons, Nathan, Thomas, Brian and Timothy .
 

 

Junior Varsity

Ashley Dennerlein

Ashley Dennerlein is in her second year as coach for the JV Lady Vikings. Ashley has coached for over 16 years beginning at the youth level and moving to the high school and then college level. Ashley played at Malone University for four years. During that time she helped lead her team into various National tournaments.   In her senior year she won 2nd Team All American and 1st Team Academic All American.   After graduating she went on to coach for two years at Malone University.   Ashley is currently the physical education and health teacher at Hoover High School. 

 

Assistants

Jessica Zettler

Jessica Zettler is in her second season as a coach with the Hoover High School Girls’ Soccer Program. She is a graduate of Jackson High School. Jessica went on to play at Malone University as a starting defender from 2003-2006. While at Malone, the team made its first ever appearance in the NAIA National tournament in 2003, and went on to qualify for the NCCAA Christian National tournament in 2005. While there, Jessica received an honorable mention for the American Mideast Conference Team in 2006. She went on to be the assistant coach at Malone from 2008-2011. Jessica graduated from Malone University in the fall of 2007 with her Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Language Arts 7-12. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Education, with a concentration in Special Education. This is her 9th year teaching English at Hoover High School.
 
 
 

 

Sam Simmerman

Sam Simmerman is in his ninth season as a coach with the Hoover High School Girls’ Soccer Program. Sam has coached for over eighteen years beginning with a recreational league, moving on to club, and now with the high school. He has coached for the Lake Soccer Club and the North Canton Strikers Soccer Club as well as organizing and coaching teams for the Hoover players and indoor and outdoor games. Sam is a partner of the law firm of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A.
